Quality Control Assistant

Location: San Jose, CA

Summary/Primary Functions:

The QC Assistant will assist the Quality Control Manager with managing and administering the implementation of construction quality programs, with emphasis on risk reduction, regulatory compliance, good manufacturing practices, training, record keeping and assuring compliance with corporate policies and procedures. The QC Manager is solely responsible for the creation and oversight of high quality construction and installation behaviors throughout the large, multi-faceted operations of this organization. This position will assist with the response to, the investigation of, and the reporting and managing of quality control incidents/challenges utilizing their experience and knowledge of good documentation practices, customer requirements, governmental regulations and construction codes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assisting quality leadership team with general clerical duties, filing, etc.
  • Assist with document change management and writing/editing technical instruction procedures documents with goal of continuously improving the quality documentation system.
  • Assist with maintenance of employee quality qualifications and training records.
  • Assist with scheduling and performing required quality training and certification of personnel.
  • Work with Project Managers and Field Superintendents to assemble, collate and distribute quality turnover package documentation.
  • Help to develop training education programs for quality control, good manufacturing practices and good documentation practices.
  • Work with the Quality Control Manager to investigate/address customer complaints, internal or external, to determine root causes and preventative measures. Attend the complaint review meetings and insure that reports are filed and distributed.
  • Schedule and attend Quality Management Team meetings and maintain meeting minutes to track ongoing quality tasks/issues for the consideration.
  • Work with the Quality Control Manager to purchase test equipment and laboratory services, etc.
  • Assist with other general clerical and administrative office tasks.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to personally manage multiple ongoing document projects of various sizes.
  • Willingness to start and stop multiple projects concurrently based on shifting priorities in highly dynamic work environment.
  • Must be an effective communicator (oral and written) with the ability to operate effectively without supervision.
  • Must possess engaging training and presentation skills.

Qualifications:

  • Strong computer skills including typing, data entry, printing, collating digital documents, etc.
  • Confident/competent with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat.
  • B.S. in Materials Engineering or 2+ years of related experience.
