HR Compliance Specialist

Location: San Jose, CA

Therma is seeking a Compliance Specialist to partner with our Human Resources team to provide guidance on a variety of HR compliance initiatives and requirements. This position will manage the Company’s AAP program, Sexual Harassment Prevention Training program, I-9 Compliance program, DOT Compliance program, EEO reporting, Leave administration and other state and federal employment law matters. The primary responsibility of this position will be to remain up-to-date on the ever-changing state and federal laws, regulations and guidelines around equal employment opportunity and HR compliance and for driving compliance nationally throughout our growing organization.

We are looking for an enthusiastic team member who is willing to commit to becoming a subject matter expert in certain compliance areas. In addition to possessing a solid understanding of employment laws and regulations, this position requires someone who takes initiative to constantly learn and improve their knowledge and add value to the organization.

To be successful in this position, the Compliance Specialist must keep current on all changes to employment-related legislation and regulations in multiple states throughout the United States and ensure changes to rules and regulations are updated within HR systems, policies and practices. This position will prepare and deliver compliance-related training and communications throughout the organization

About the Role


  • Ability to manage and lead multiple projects to completion.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills (gather & analyze information, draw appropriate conclusions, generate viable alternative solutions to problem, & evaluate the consequences of each alternative).
  • Leave administration and affirmative action planning experience a must. Employee relations experience preferred.
  • Human Resources experience in a construction or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Ability to adapt to competing demands and shifting priorities.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or a related business discipline a must.
  • At least 5 years’ experience working as a HR Generalist/Business Partner in midsize – large, high volume organizations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of HR policies and procedures, particularly in the area of equal employment opportunity.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct research and articulate a concise summary of key issues tailored to the audience.
  • Demonstrated ability to design processes and programs that align with how the business operates.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience creating and delivering presentations a must.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the demonstrated ability to influence and partner across all levels of the company.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Intellectually curious and a “doer.”
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other MS Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
