Controls Engineer/Programmer

Location: San Jose, CA

Therma LLC is seeking an experienced HVAC Controls Engineer/Programmer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct site inspections to prepare design and submittal drawings for control system installation.
  • Provide controls drawings, bill of materials, sequence of operations, device schedules, and panel layouts.
  • Coordinate submittals for the assigned controls projects.
  • Coordinate with Controls PM for BAS installation.
  • Select and purchase control system components.
  • Program Distech controllers including AX JACE’s with I/O modules.
  • Design, coordinate and implement front end graphics installation.
  • Use Niagara software to create graphics.
  • Use Distech GFX to write job specific programs.
  • Coordinate with Controls Technician to support third party commissioning as needed.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, direct, and control all aspects of project activities.
  • Ability to work with the customer to find mutually satisfactory solutions to difficult issues.
  • Working knowledge of at least one HVAC controls system (preferably Distech Controls with Niagara experience).
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems.
  • Ability to interface with customers and contractors at a supervisory and management level.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and lead a group of people.
  • Strong experience with Windows and MS Office.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent field experience.
  • A minimum of four years of relevant experience, with at least two years as an automation technician.
